The Challenge
Primamoda's existing e-commerce platform was built on a monolithic architecture that suffered from slow page loads, limited customization options, and poor mobile performance. The gap between the in-store luxury experience and the online shop was undermining brand perception among digitally-savvy customers.
Our Solution
We adopted a headless commerce architecture, decoupling the frontend presentation layer from the backend e-commerce engine. This approach gave us complete creative freedom to craft a bespoke shopping experience while leveraging the existing product catalog, inventory management, and order processing systems Primamoda already relied on.
The frontend was built with Next.js using a combination of static generation for category pages and server-side rendering for product detail pages, ensuring both speed and real-time inventory accuracy. Product galleries feature high-resolution imagery with progressive loading, zoom functionality, and color variant previews. The filtering system uses faceted search with instant results, and the checkout was redesigned as a single-page flow with saved addresses, multiple payment methods, and guest checkout support.
To handle seasonal traffic, we deployed on Vercel's edge network with aggressive caching strategies, image optimization via next/image, and lazy loading for below-fold content. Load testing confirmed the platform handles 10x normal traffic without degradation. We also implemented comprehensive analytics tracking to give Primamoda's marketing team real-time visibility into funnel performance and user behavior.
